David Kelly LLB/LP(Hons)(First Class, University Medal), BPsych(Hons)(First Class) is a graduate of Flinders University in law and legal practice and psychology. He is admitted to practice in South Australia and the High Court of Australia.
David joined Iles Selley in 2019 and assists Matthew Selley and Claire Vernik on a broad range of litigious matters. Previously, he practised at Camatta Lempens and Leventis Lawyers, having served as Associate to the Honourable Justice Peek in the Supreme Court of South Australia from 2013 to 2015.
Whilst studying, David was awarded subject prizes in administrative law, civil procedure, criminal law, land use planning law and tort law. He completed clerkships at the Crown Solicitor’s Office, Lipman Karas, Minter Ellison, Piper Alderman, and Wallmans Lawyers. He later graduated from Flinders University as Dux of Law. His earlier Honours thesis in forensic psychology addressed the consistency between the accuracy of, and the confidence expressed in, facial identification decisions of eyewitnesses.
In addition to legal practice, David has returned to Flinders University as a casual academic and been appointed as a law reporter for the Federal Court Reports, Federal Law Reports and the South Australian State Reports. He currently sits on the litigation committee of the Law Society of South Australia.
